Once the structures had been modelled, further detail was required to progress the facades across the site. These initial technical drawings provided the Architects with additional information, including door swings, window styles, brick detailing, signage, and other key elements needed to refine the design.
To progress the hard‑landscaping design in and around the Hospital (Block 04) on the Back Lot, I produced the drawing above to illustrate key features such as bollards, planting and trees, gates, and other site elements. This provided a clear reference point and allowed for easy adjustments to the master plans developed by our Landscape Architect.
The drawing above was required to enable the EastEnders production to continue shooting on the demolished Back Lot site while preserving full 360‑degree filming capability. It also ensured that safe and practical access routes were maintained for both Cast and Crew throughout the works.
This revision of the Back Lot scheme for the new EastEnders set represented the final iteration, forming the basis of the design that was ultimately taken forward and handed over to Production.
With the introduction of a new Park within the full Back Lot scheme, the design went through several iterations, exploring features such as a pond, a pergola or bandstand, and a raised terrace. These variations helped refine how the space could best serve both storytelling and practical production needs.
A significant amount of information was required by the Architects to ensure the design aligned with the agreed Back Lot vision. The drawing above was developed to carry forward the core principles of the Front Lot’s Bridge Street bridge, using it as a reference point while updating key elements to create the impression of a natural continuation rather than a direct replication.
