The scale model above was based on what would become the final Back Lot layout. Although several structures were refined during development, and a few were ultimately omitted, this model formed the backbone of the final design.
Unlike previous schemes, this approach utilised only half of the site, retaining the existing park and allotments while introducing a new Victorian railway bridge, hospital, police station, shops, and additional streetscape elements
The key feature of this model was that all block and building pieces were fully removable from the baseboard, yet remained securely in place when handled thanks to magnets installed in both the base and the individual components. This allowed the layout to be reconfigured easily without compromising stability during review and presentation.
The scale model above was based on an earlier Back Lot design that never progressed to RIBA Stage 4. This scheme utilised the entire site and proposed a Church, Victorian railway bridge, Hospital, Police Station, shops, and additional streetscape elements. Although ultimately not taken forward, it represented a more expansive vision for the development.
Each individual building was meticulously modelled to scale from hand‑drawn elevations. Textures and finer details were then added manually to the final drawings.
