Alongside the schedules, detailed plans were produced to ensure the onsite contractor understood exactly which structures required specific works. Each area was assigned a unique code, as shown in the plan above, and the same system was applied to the buildings themselves using a B00‑series code.
Prior to the demolition of the original EastEnders set, I coordinated the removal of any elements that could be salvaged and reused onsite. This involved recovering items from the structures, roadways, and surrounding areas, including doors, windows, bricks, ironmongery, and street furniture, to ensure valuable materials were preserved for future use.
In some cases, a photographic record was required to help the onsite contractor distinguish precisely what needed to be removed and where each item was located.
